Thy Word have I hid in my heart

God's Word
in our Hearts

As we venture through the summer we might be involved in experiences that are hard to handle by ourselves and yet, in Christ we have a very secure place to go for comfort.

"If the Lord delights in a man's way, He makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand." Psalm 37:23-24.

"I felt so alone in such a dark, gloomy place. I went for a late evening walk and accidentally got locked outside in the thick, scary fog at the orphanage."

Elisha wrote this in one of the rare letters we've received since Elisha and Janessa left for Russia.

Elisha had been frightened and ran fiercely back to the orphanage and found that the door had been locked. She tried hard to open the door but could not and ended up sitting in fear for about three hours.

Elisha continued to write,

"But I remembered God's strength, power and comfort . . .and God gave me comforting songs to sing and I spoke aloud into the darkness my favorite verse,
'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 '
"After being strengthened I tried the door again - this time I was able to break it open - actually this time it was opened by God's strength within me."

At times we all go through situations that can cause great fear and take all of our strength. It is at these times that knowing God's Word in our hearts can carry us through the tough times.
