Iowa Apple Cake

 

Cream together:

    1/2 Cup Butter
    2 Cups Sugar


Add:


    2 Eggs


Sift together and add:


    2 Cups flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg


Add:


    6 Chopped or grated Apples
    1/2 Cup or more of nuts


Bake:


    In a greased pan at 350f for 40 minutes until toothpick test clean.


 

Topping (optional):

Mix and sprinkle on top of batter before baking:


    3 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1/2 cup of nuts (more can be used if desired)
