This Christmas cake has all the flavors of good fruit cakes,
but none of the bitter citron fruits. 
It also makes nice gifts if baked in small loaf pans.
No rum ! Christmas Cake Part 1 Combine in sauce pan and boil for 5 minutes:
2 cups brown sugar 4 level Tbsp lard 1 tsp salt 1 tsp cloves 1 tsp nutmeg 2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp allspice 2 cups hot water 1 pkg seedless raisins
2 Tbsp Powdered cocoa
Allow mixture to cool 
Part 2 Combine:
3 cups flour 2 tsp baking soda (loosely stir into flour) 1 cup nuts 1 cup Maraschino cherries, cut in half
Combine Part 1 and Part 2.  Bake at 350f for 1 1/4 hours.
Yields approximately 5 pounds.
